Brass Pipe
Brass pipe is used in many different plumbing throughout homes and commercial buildings. This type of piping is very useful for moving both fresh and wastewater for a number of different reasons. However, not all brass is the same for these types of applications. Brass is made of both copper and zinc, but these mixtures change depending upon the needs of the application. Luckily, this is very helpful, as many of the benefits of this alloy can be consistent among many different variations while adding extra benefits depending on the environment for different mixtures.
One of the main benefits of this material across the board is its plasticity. Because they can be easily shaped into nearly any form, piping of this type is one of the most practical as it can be made to fit into tight spaces and be bent into sometimes odd structures. Additionally, this material also has a germicidal attribute, which is beneficial to keeping pipes safe for drinking water and to prevent bacterial growth more generally in water pipes.
Depending on the particular composition of the alloy, this type of piping can also be used for extreme environments not suitable for other metals or alloys. This includes applications that involve highly corrosive liquids, extreme temperatures, and changing water quality (such as soft water). For this reason, specialized piping is often required and provided for by this material. However, it should be mentioned, that these materials must be produced by a highly trained person with specialized tools in order to ensure safety.
